Acorn Tutoring is thrilled to announce our second annual Free Fall Speaker Series. Visit us at our beautiful space in the heart of Downtown Berkeley and learn valuable tools for helping your students. All events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Free Acorn Talk #1: Mastering the new Common Core Math
Thursday, September 29th, 2016. Light refreshments at 6:30 PM, talk starts at 7 PM.
Highly acclaimed math tutor and founder of Acorn Tutoring, Paul Gee, will give students and parents insight into the new Common Core Math. He will address the pros and cons of this new math, why so many students find it so difficult, and how to overcome the difficulties. Paul speaks from his experience of tutoring dozens of students in Common Core Math. He has been professionally tutoring children and teens in the Bay Area since 2005; in that time he has tutored more than 10,000 hours with over 600 students. There will be plenty of time reserved for questions and sharing experiences. Come with your questions. Be prepared to enjoy some refreshments and learn what it takes to master Common Core Math!

Ariel Mazel-Gee, Director of Golden Ticket Admissions and Acorn Tutoring's resident College Admissions Expert, will give students and parents a window into the factors impacting admissions decisions. She will address everything from application strategy to the elements that make up stellar personal statements. Ariel has been working in college admissions for over eight years, including several seasons on the Stanford Admissions Committee. Her presentation will be followed by an open question-and-answer session to address your inquiries. Come get your questions answered, enjoy some refreshments, and discover some strategies from an insider to help you through the admissions process!
